We are very proud of our selection of plant material available on a daily basis. Plant quality and overall health is very important to us. If it does not meet our standards, it is not accepted.
SERVICE Our customers are not supposed to lift a finger while here at Olde Savannah!! Whether you are a landscape contractor or residential customer, all of us (including the "little helpers")will pull the plants and load them in your vehicle. We even provide plastic if needed. Loading plants also helps to make sure that the plants will arrive to their destination safely and with as little damage as possible.
KNOWLEDGE One of our biggest advantages over the big chain companies is our knowledge of the products we sell. Not only do we love dealing with plants, we also enjoy learning about them. There are very few places locally that can give you hands on information about the plants. Anything from arrangements of plant beds to drought tolerance and deer and disease resistance can be asked. Although we know a lot, no one ever knows everything!! If we don't know the answer, we will find it out for you.
Below are samples of some of the plant material we have on a regular basis:
Variegated Ginger & Stromanthe Both Variegated Ginger and Stromanthe are great shade perennials. They do a really great job of brightening up dark areas that usually occur under Live Oaks or other heavily wooded areas. They are able to take the morning sun but never the afternoon sun. Another great feature is that they are also deer resistant. Lots of customers have used these plants as a substitute for Hosta.
Variegated Flax Lilly
Variegated Flax Lilly Variegated Flax Lilly is a great plant to use to add texture and color to any landscape. They are semi-evergreen and can take shade or sun which makes them a very easy chose. These plants look great in clumps along a boring evergreen hedge of bushes. Flax Lilly is also deer resistant.
Purple Diamond Loropetalum Purple Diamond Loropetalum is a great evergreen low growing shrub. It is different than the most common loropetalums because of its low growth habit and redder color. It also is covered in red flowers in spring. It is also considered a deer resistant plant. Its max height and spread is between 4' and 5'.
Purple Diamond Loropetalum
Muhly Grass Muhly grass is a great indigenous grass that can be a lot of fun to play with. It adds great softness and texture to any landscape. In late fall (Oct.-Dec.), it blooms soft pink plumes that will hold for about 2 months. It is also deer resistant and drought tolerant once established. It likes full sun to part sun.
Blue Plumbago Blue Plumbago is a great perennial that adds almost continual color. It blooms for 10 months out of the year and is deer resistant. It is a much prettier alternative to lantana. It takes full to part sun and is drought tolerant once established. Humming birds and butterflies love it!!
